Jim Marsh

Mr. Marsh brings over 40 years of technical leadership experience primarily in R&D organizations focused on contracts with the US Government including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Armed Services Laboratories. In his most recent position he was the Director of Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) which develops advanced information based, signal processing and robotics systems.  He formulated the ATL strategic plan and then executed it, quadrupling its revenue and more than doubling the lab’s size to 220 personnel.  Prior to joining Lockheed Martin he was the Vice President of the Arlington Division of ALPHATEC, Inc., a spinout from MIT focused on control systems and optimization technologies. (ALPHATEC has since been acquired by BAE.)  Earlier he was VP of the Planning Division of Advanced Decision Systems, a company focused on the application of artificial intelligence to Department of Defense applications. (ADS was acquired by Booz Allen Hamilton.) Mr. Marsh currently advises LiquidPiston regarding the US Government R&D marketplace, and works in the area of efficient energy systems with Ben Franklin Technology Partners, a quasi governmental effort devoted to bringing new technology-based businesses to the Philadelphia-Delaware Valley region. He continues to consult for Lockheed Martin. Mr. Marsh has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and a MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
