Position Description |

As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work side-by-side with the company founder and CTO executing a recently funded seed-stage R&D program aimed at bringing a breakthrough rotary diesel engine design to life. The candidate will be more broadly responsible for providing vision to the company in the execution of its technology roadmap, serving as the nucleus of a growing engineering team when the company ramps toward production.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will:
- Identify key technical issues and focus resources to implement cutting-edge technical breakthroughs in low emissions rotary engine technologies.
- Plan experiments and analysis to demonstrate these technologies under realistic conditions.
- Guide and conduct experiments that quantify the benefits of new technology.
- Document results through patent applications, technical reports and publications.
- Participate in the hands-on construction of a working prototype.
- Work with the CTO to communicate these results to follow-on investors.

Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree with a minimum 3 years experience OR Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree with a minimum 5 years experience, including design and analysis of advanced diesel engine technologies.
- Demonstrated project leadership experience, including a successful track of completing deliverables on schedule and on budget working with small teams.
- Proven record of innovation in combustion engines (e.g. high-performance, low emission diesel engines.)
- In-depth knowledge of rotary and piston engines with a solid mix of theoretical and practical experience.
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Central Connecticut.
Desired Skills:
- Specific experience in designing engine parts and assemblies and producing working drawings using 3D CAD systems – SolidWorks preferable.
- Specific experience with FEA – CosmosWorks preferable.
- Familiarity and specific experience with advanced rotary and piston engine technologies (fuel injection, exhaust gas recirculation, Miller cycle, HCCI, etc).
- Specific experience with CFD (CosmosFlow preferable) is a plus.
- Experience with engine analysis codes (GT-Power, KIVA, etc) is a plus.
- Superb communication skills.
- Excellent work ethics and ability to work well in a small team environment.
